You don't have to do hard things alone.
Maybe you’ve been told you're ‘too sensitive.’ Or you’re the one who always keeps it together, even when you feel like you're falling apart inside. I work with people who have learned to survive by disconnecting from their own needs, desires, or emotions - not because they wanted to, but because it was safer that way.
“Healing begins when we’re no longer trying to convince ourselves that our pain doesn’t make sense.”
- adapted from Coherence Therapy ethos

I received my graduate training through The University at Albany, SUNY in 2018 and am currently working as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of New York. I have always been drawn to understanding the underpinnings of how and why we feel, think, and behave in the ways that we do. I have experience working with adolescents and adult populations. I would love to help you navigate hardship and uncover the truest version of yourself.
About Julia
I'm Julia Lajeunesse, a licensed psychotherapist with a focus on helping adults heal from the impact of early attachment wounds. Many of the people I work with find themselves repeating painful relational patterns, struggling with self-doubt, or feeling disconnected from their emotions, despite being thoughtful, capable, and self-aware.
My approach is grounded, relational, and emotionally attuned. I draw from Coherence Therapy, a process that helps us uncover the deeper emotional truths driving your current struggles - not to pathologize, but to make sense of what’s been hard to name. When these core patterns are brought into conscious awareness, meaningful change becomes possible.
In our work together, I aim to create a space that is curious, respectful, and non-rushed. Therapy isn’t about fixing what’s broken; it’s about understanding how you’ve adapted, and gently working through what no longer serves you.
If you’re looking for therapy that goes beyond surface-level coping, and instead gets to the root of your emotional pain, I’d be honored to support your process.
Individual Counseling & Psychotherapy
Wherever you are at, I will meet you there. I offer more than coping skills. I offer a space where we make sense of what’s underneath the pain. Together, we’ll gently uncover what your mind has been protecting you from, so that real change can happen.
At this time, I see adults (18+) only.
What I can help with:
-
Feeling unseen or unsafe in relationships
-
Self-doubt that won’t go away, even with success
-
Chronic shame, guilt, or emotional numbness
-
A harsh inner critic or people-pleasing patterns
-
Emotional overwhelm that seems disproportionate
-
Feeling like something is “off,” but not knowing why
These struggles may come up in the form of anxiety, depression, CPTSD, or other mood difficulties. But beneath those labels is usually a deeper story—one shaped by early relationships, unmet needs, and protective patterns that made sense at the time.
